"Corn!"

One of our favorite "traditions" so far is eating popcorn for a bedtime snack.  And as Sylvia will tell you - "It has to be mommy's.  That's the only one I like." (as opposed to store bought popcorn).

Typically, the scene looks like this:

Laura starts the popcorn popper (not even microwave for us).  The kids come running!  Andrew is usually yelling, "Corn!  Watch!!  Corn!  Watch!"  Obviously, he likes to watch the popcorn popping.  Most of the time, the popper is going with 3 chairs pushed up to the counter and the kids all laughing away.

Good memories.  This is actually at "the Shed" in South Haven eating popcorn and watching a movie.

The World is safe again!

In case anyone is interested, Laura and I did claim victory in the game mentioned in the previous post.  Pandemic is a very fun game.  My favorite part is that players each have a specific role and must play together to win.  And with our current record at 1-5, I feel confident that things are looking up!

Just in case you care......  :)

Pandemic

Bought a fun game this past weekend.  It is called Pandemic.  The concept is you work together to rid the world of 4 diseases.  Sounds corny, but it is a lot of fun.  Problem is....5 times the world has ceased to exist on our watch!  Haven't beaten it yet.  (Not even with the help of some of the smartest Sternbergs on the planet - the DreamTeam couldn't do it).

8/2/11

We are extremely blessed to have such a wonderful family.  Right now, we have a family of 8 in this house.  Lindy, Hannah, and Connor are staying with us for the week.  Lots of laughs and noise!  Today we are celebrating Hannah's 11th birthday.  Tomorrow, going to Michigan's Adventure.  What a life!

Grandma VanStrien has always been special to us.  Grandma Sylvia is always willing to share the blessings in her life and it is great seeing our kids warming up to her more.  This was watching fireworks on the beach on the 3rd of July.

Our loving kids.  They make us laugh so much.  As you can see, Laura was trying to get the kids to take a nice picture.  And as you can probably guess, Andrew was not too interested at  the moment, so "Mommy" Sylvia tried to help by pulling his hair to keep him in place and make him smile.  Great shot!

Lastly, just one of the weird things Andrew does:  he often has things in his hands (held onto a sucker for a whole morning yesterday, until he put it into his backpack).  He also likes to have a small toy or a ball (like the golf ball above) while he sleeps, and it is the first thing he looks for when he wakes up.

Love the family!!!!!
