Deep Thoughts

#1-
While daddy and Sylvia ar driving to the Dr, pulled up alongside another car with 2 African Americans in it:

Sylvia - "Daddy, there aren't people with brown skin like that in Michigan."
Daddy - "Uh......Actually there are a lot, but maybe not so many in Grand Haven.  But isn't it cool how God made people of different colors?  I think that is pretty cool."
Sylvia - "Yeah, it ios cool.  Do you want brown skin daddy?"
Daddy - "Uh.......Well, I am happy the way God made me, but it would be fun to be different sometimes.  But I think God wants us to be happy with the way we look"
Sylvia - "Yeah, it's like God is saying, 'you get what you get, and you don't throw a fit.' (a saying that is pretty popular in our house).  Actually I think it should be 'you get what you get, and you thank God for it.'"

Bravo Sylvia (take a look at this cute picture - the tooth fairy has been busy by us lately!

#2-
Gracie, sitting at the dinner table:
Gracie - "Hey mommy and daddy, do you see Jesus over here?"
Daddy - Looking lovingly at Gracie "I see someone that Jesus made!"
Gracie - "Yeah, but do you see Jesus?  He is sitting right here." (next to Gracie)
Daddy - "Yeah, I bet he is sitting next to you because he likes listening to you talk about Him."
Gracie - "OK, let's squash Him!"

Huh?

#3-
And then there is Andrew:
Currently, Andrew is enjoying 2 of his favorite things, Ish and Ra.  (Goldfish crackers and Dora).  He has been quite a mommy's boy lately, but still loves basketball, cars, and blocks.  He has done a better job of sleeping through the night, but does still wake up occasionally calling for mommy to come sleep in bed with him (which she excitedly does).

kids' videos

The kids wanted some "simple" thoughts on video.  Enjoy.  (It might take a little while to load).

3/11/11

Whoah.  What a week!

1.  Andrew goes down with pneumonia.  He stayed home for the entire week (which made Mike and Laura's work schedule a little hectic).  Seemed to be doing better, but Friday's check up left Andrew on his second round of antibiotics.  Not completely over it?

2.  Laura gets a sore throat, but due to Andrew's needs (and the million other things we have going on) she puts off going to the dr until midweek, only to be diagnosed with Strep throat.  Yikes!  So she is also on antibiotics.  Looks like the rest of us better watch out!

Andrew - has really enjoyed doing laundry with daddy lately.  Not much help, but fun to do with him (Andrew's favorite part - after he loads the laundry basket with the clothes, he jumps in waiting to be carried downstairs).  And he is talking like crazy lately, for us, not so much in front of others yet.

Gracie - learning so much lately, it seems.  She is seriously going to do great, thanks to Sylvia.  Gracie tags along with all of Sylvia's school work, and seems to pick it up pretty quickly.

Sylvia - parent teacher conferences this past week showed what we already know.  We have ourselves a shy genious!  Except for math, perhaps.  We will keep working on it.  :)

More later....including pictures.

March Madness baby!
