1/29/11

Recent business:

Gracie - today, while eating mac-n-cheese, Gracie decided to eat them one noodle at a time, as quickly as possible.  When finished, she had a mouth full and decided to chew, but in the meantime, it was cute...and hilarious!  She also put together a tea party this evening, for "the girls and Andrew" (basically everyone but dad).  The girls bought their own cookies and juice boxes for the party, and mom joined in the fun in the kitchen.  Here is a picture of Gracie's birthday present that Grandpa Sternberg made (Croquet set).

Andrew - loves his "big boy bed".  When mommy and daddy lay with him and decide to get up, he slams our head down and says, "night-night".  He was also excited for Saturday morning.  When asked if he wants to go to Pam's house (which he does like), he says "no!" but when asked if he wants to play and eat cinnamon rolls, he says "ye ssssss" (it really is 2 words for him yet).  That's my boy - playing and sweets!

Sylvia - has dine a GREAT job reading lately.  She is now in the Goat group.  Not sure what that means, except it is better than the pig, rooster, and cat.  Moving on up!   She also has done a nice job of cleaning for us lately.  She enjoys putting things away, and actually knows where things go now.  She used to just put everything on the couch and call it good.  She also has lost her 3rd tooth recently (big one in front in the top row) and looks so cute.  Thanks to the tooth fairy again for another speedy delivery of.......$1.41.  Ask Grandma Sternberg why that amount if you don't know (it does have some inflation).

1/21/11

Well, Andrew basically played us for fools today.  He got the candy, and never did smile for his 2 year picture at Sears (yes, I know he has been 2 for a little more than 2 weeks, but whatchagonnado?).

He did love turning 2.  But, boy, has he been a 2 year old lately.  Getting him to eat vegetables is a nightly battle.

Gracie has been a great 4 year old for a week.  She has such a great heart, and is always willing to share (well, almost always).

Yes, I can now say that I have had a kid get gum in her hair.  Peanut butter really did do the trick!

Sylvia has been reading like CRAZY lately.  It is so much fun to see her learning.  For her parents, it is so nice to see a "normal" kid learning to read.

Our little princess has done GREAT wearing her patch.  she is down to every other day for only 2-3 hours at a time.  And she loves her glasses, thank goodness.  She also loves to pose for the camera, which you can see here.

That's about it.  Pretty normal week over here.  Grand Haven Public Schools enjoyed a snow day on Tuesday, which Laura and the kids loved.  And I formally ended my basketball season with a pizza party and trip to the Coopersville Broncos varsity basketball game (won by 20, thank you very much).
Well, one more cute picture.  See ya.

1/2/11

Gracie would like to say, "Happy New Year and Christmas.  Those are good ones cuz it's Christmas.  And say happy birthday to me."

Andrew would like to say, "I am not excited to wake up early again tomorrow morning.  But I am excited to go play ay Pam's house with my friends."

Sylvia would like to say (to our friends reading this), "Thanks."  Me, "for what?"  "Thanks to everyone for reading this."

Laura, "I have nothing to say to the world."

Mike, "That 2 hour nap I took today might come back to haunt me."

Just a Halloween flashback with Great-Grandma Haverdink and Great-Grandpa and Grandma Sternberg

1/1/11

Cool date today (1/1/11).  Happy 2011 to you.  Happy Burthday dad.  Happy everything everyone.  Then again, with the Puplis family being our only followers so far, I guess I should say, "hi Joe, Jen and Claire".

Today's highlights:

Sylvia - feeling under the weather with a headache and constipation lately.  Upset that Andrew broke her glasses during her nap, but never fear - Daddy taped them back together with some good old fashioned scotch tape.  Nicely done, I might add, but how long will it last?

Random picture of Sylvia and friend Lauren at school (Peach Plains).

Gracie - At the Kruis cousin's house: Lydia: "we aren't going to watch the new Karate Kid movie now because there are little kids around and the movie has some bad words in it."  Gracie, getting in Lydia's face and whispering so nobody would hear it: "like hate?"  So proud that the word hate is the worst  thing my kids can think of so far.  Hope that lasts for awhile!

Girls LOVE making projects!  And our living room proves it.

Andrew - After Claire just woke from nap, Laura, "Andrew, you wanna go upstairs and play with cousin Claire?"  Andrew, "ye sssss" (actually sounds like 2 words), runs to put some balls away, and runs to Laura with HUGE grin on his face.

Suck in that gut, buddy!  Cute undies, huh?  Too bad he is not trained yet.
